What is MEDarchiver

MEDarchiver is an integrated management system for multimedia medical records, allowing for the transparent and consistent handling of clinical data, recordings, images and any kind of patient related information.



MEDarchiver is available in Stand-Alone or Client-Server architecture, where an unlimited number of workstations connect to one or more reference servers. Each workstation consists of a Personal Computer running the MEDarchiver user interface and allows for the retrieval of medical data directly from biomedical devices through hardware/software interfaces. MEDarchiver supports all the standard communication protocols, such as DICOM and HL7, and is designed for the native interfacing of a large number of medical devices through RS-232 or TCP/IP connections. The client software runs on any version of Windows higher than windows 98, while the server software relies on a platform-independent Oracle database.

Independently on the configuration of choice, MEDarchiver allows for a robust and reliable security system with granular access control over data visibilty and manipulation, allowing also for the implementation of the preferred backup and crash recovery policy (mirroring, backup, etc.,). Finally, the MEDnetwork module enables the administrator to extend the database visibility also to remote users over LAN/WAN connections through the use of a standard Web browser. The embedded configuration tools allow the users to customize their database and a number of user interface modules, establishing by their own the preferred format, organization, coding and rules for the most relevant clinical data. High performance and reliability from small to large scale implementations is guaranteed by the scalable architecture of MEDarchiver, which allows for the independent upgrading of the server architecture, of the storage subsystem or of the network configuration. MEDarchiver is a suite of indepentent and perfectly integrated modules, which allow for a tailored implementation according to the specific user needs.
